We are heartened to see that a deal has been reached that excludes billions of dollars in wasteful spending for a #BorderWall (at least for now.) We'll continue to oppose any efforts to hold Border communities and federal workers hostage for cheap political points.
However, the fight against the #BorderWall is not over. In 2018, Congress set aside $1.6 billion for border wall construction in the Rio Grande Valley. The federal govt. is moving ahead with those plans and we expect construction to begin in the Spring.
This construction will destroy treasured sites like the National Butterfly Center, and Bentsen State Park, and tramples over the rights of our clients, like the Cavazos, who are fighting to preserve their ancestral land. dailymail.co.uk/wires/afp/arti…
This administration is still hell-bent on attacking immigrants and border communities. The #BorderWall is one more tactic in their agenda. We will continue to fight for our communities along the Border and urge people across the country to join our efforts.
