It bothers me that so many people believe in and repeat ad nauseam half-understood statements such as we only use 10% of brain or humans evolved from monkeys.

I guess science writers have an obligation to explain things well.
To do my bit:

- That 10% part is ill defined because ‘using’ is I’ll defined. Our entire brain is being used for something, unless you define what a ‘resting’ neuron or synapse mean.

Also this implicitly means a 100% ‘active’ brain is a desirable state. Why?
- Humans did not evolve from monkeys.

Both monkeys and humans evolved from a common ancestor who is no longer alive.
