Why did 80s/90s cyberpunk authors and Victorian sci-fi authors get so many predictions right, while mid-20th-century sci-fi authors got so many things wrong?

Most Americans support high-skilled immigration. But Sweden, the UK, Canada, German, and Australia are even more supportive.
Even among Americans who say they want fewer immigrants overall, most say they want high-skilled immigrants (but TBH I don't really believe them; many may not realize that most high-skilled immigrants aren't white).

The violence that broke out at the inaugural campaign rally of the APC in Ikeja yesterday needs to be captured in the heart of history while it is still fresh in our memories.

What happened yesterday is a disgrace to the ruling elite, to the APC, but especially Bola Tinubu.
The ruling elite in Nigeria started out with only intellect, charisma and oratory prowess as their armour and weapons, but lesser individuals, unable to contend with them in those areas decided to introduce thuggery and today, it has become normalised.

So we blame them all.
We however must narrow down the blame further to the All Progressives Congress and especially in Lagos State as well as some other states in the Southern parts of Nigeria.

In Lagos, the power elite has maintained its hold on power with thuggery as a major weapon in its arsenal.

So. It says in the 'Life in the UK' test book that 1066 was the last successful foreign conquest of England. Which neglects or fully anglicizes Matilda and 1139 and the regency invasion of Isabella in 1326. Oh also the very successful invasion of 1688-9.

Carmen Schentrup was killed at Stoneman Douglas in February.

Since then, schools officials have told her family that "everything has been done right", cut her mom's pay as she grieved, and refused to meet with them.

Now her family is demanding action. Listen to their testimony.
Carmen's dad, @pschentrup, says the district is "dragging its feet" because it did "so many things wrong." This includes the lack of transparency, MSD's principal (@PrincipalMSD) refusing to meet with them over safety concerns, and evacuating students during an active shooting.
Carmen's mom (@AprilSchentrup), a principal in the district for nearly a decade, said she's "waited enough" for answers. Minutes after she learned her daughter had been murdered, she begged MSD's board member to get answers. She didn't receive a call until months after.
