If the Pats win.. Brady has to be pretty close to a mortal lock to win, based off of his legacy alone. Which I have no interest in betting a -120+ MVP favorite. There’s no fun in that.

For the Rams... there isn’t a receiver that sticks out to me. They spread the ball around too much to think one receiver can take over a game. Goff doesn’t do it for me, and is too vanilla to me to take at 2/1 odds.

Can’t feel great about Gurley at 7/1 given his recent performance and usage.. the recency bias of CJ Anderson has eliminated any potential value. The last RB to win the MVP award was Terrell Davis in 1998.

So, essentially I don’t have much interest in anyone on Rams offense.

The Rams winning this game will come down to dominating the trenches. A trendy storyline this week has been the Pats Oline, and how Brady hasn’t been sacked in the last 7 games and has only been touched twice. If the Rams Dline can disrupt Brady, the Pats will have major problem.

Now with the Rams Dline being the main factor to them winning this game in my opinion.. then, someone on their Dline should have MVP value..

Who is the best player on the Rams Dline/defense (and NFL)? Aaron Donald. Is he capable of taking over a game, with the potential of having a defining moment? Yes.

Since 2000, there have been 7 non-qb winners, 4 of them were on defense. The last one to win was Von Miller who had 2.5 sacks in that game. Who led the league in sacks this year? Aaron Donald.

He might seem like the obvious pick on the Rams D. But, their best player who is arguably the best defensive player in the league.. that is the key contributor in the deciding factor of the game.. to me, he makes total sense.

The counter argument is that Belichick could mastermind Donald out of the game, which he has before. If that happens then I like the Pats chances of winning.
