Hi Joshua Trump. I'm sorry you get bullied at school for your last name. My name is Ben Joseph Siemon. "Semen" or "BJ Semen." I didn't visit a porn set to feel better. You don't need to go to the State of the Union.
I didn't expect this to do well but I stand by it. I sympathize that Joshua is getting picked on in school. I was too. It's hard. But I think his family sending him to attend a speech as a political stunt where he'll listen to inflammatory things about immigrants is a bad call.
Bullying is wrong & I tried to express I understood how Joshua felt. If my joke seemed to encourage picking on kids I made a mistake. But most of the angry comments seem to be stemming from accounts with eagles stabbing American flags through Hillary Clinton so there's that too.
Joshua's 11. He has no Twitter. I didn't tag him. You can't use Twitter until you're 13. I wasn't trying to reach out. If anyone thought I was trying to write something he would actually read instead of joking about a public news story I understand your anger but I didn't do that
But beyond partisan anger if anyone truly thinks I was creating content that would be used to bully a child instead of just commenting on how shitty my last name is, I truly didn't intend that, and it's given me a lot to think about.
In the end, anything that is honestly being interpreted as making light of a child's trauma is problematic. I could have made the same type of joke by focusing on myself instead of invoking Joshua, and for that I am sorry. I look forward to tweeting about bread bowls now.
