If you work for an employer who you believe does not care about employees' dignity, well being, and personal development, please do the world a favor --

QUIT.
Quit if others are taken advantage of, even if you personally are respected and treated quite well. Help amplify their voices if you can, etc, but in the end we highly paid, highly skilled folks have got to stop lending our skills to sociopaths.
(I didn't echo the original tweet point about job security; I don't think that's a reasonable expectation for an employer. Jobs come and go, as they must to remain competitive.)
There's such an aversion to changing jobs, looking for a new job. I get it.. it can be really unpleasant. But amortized over time, it's way less painful than staying in a job where you aren't growing and don't love it.
And interviewing is a skill that can be practiced and mastered like any other. Don't let yourself get too rusty -- go interview around every year or so -- and you won't build up that paralyzing fear.

Relationships are better when you choose into them, not when you feel forced.
Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to walk down the street and get a new job.

We owe it to ourselves and each other to use our power for good -- to work on things that should exist, for people who aren't exploitative.
