The twitter conversation between MP Hoey and MEP Verhofstadt illustrates two points I have been making in the context of Brexit 1/3
First of all the rather obvious point that Brexit is a disruption of the two party system splitting both of them. MP Hoey is Labour, but instinctively resorts to Thatcher as an ideal.
The second point is that the ideological reinforcement within bubbles in the course of Brexit is so strong that in some bubbles the obviously erroneous statement that MEPs are unelected makes sense.
