@threadreaderapp @TheFigen That's objectionable, in an of itself, and the risk to the general public is not being borne equally. This a literal first world problem, in that the yahoos shooting these videos are obviously doing so far more often in high density first world cities.
@threadreaderapp @TheFigen Just look at the surroundings, the next time you see one of those videos. You're obviously not in a small Andean village. Or a small Appalachian one either, for that matter. These videos get shot, disproportionately often, in places like Chicago or Los Angeles.
@threadreaderapp @TheFigen Cities in which there are a lot of cameras, and a lot of innocent bystanders, within easy walking distance. I mentioned an incident in which I got to be in one of these would-be "viral videos."

@threadreaderapp @TheFigen The only reason I'm still here, in one piece, able to tell the story at all, is because when they two psychopaths launched the thing, I just happened to be turning toward them at the time. It was fairly dark and I could see the flash.

@threadreaderapp @TheFigen The small rocket passed through the space where my head had been, just about a second earlier. The psychos with cameras thought that this was hilarious. The whole crew vanished into the fourth of July crowd and I never saw them again.
