Human Rights Watch has been studiously silent about what one mighy think was an important human rights issue - antisemitism in the UK. Breaks it’s silence by promoting this story.
As a UK human rights lawyer I am pretty ashamed about this TBH
I have raised this before with the UK branch of Human Rights Watch explicitly. To no avail.
Solidarity and action on antisemitism through a human rights lens is not difficult. See the excellent work of @EURightsAgency
@EURightsAgency I am working hard to shift this dynamic. Hope to have more on that soon 🤞🏼
@EURightsAgency I regularly speak to Jewish audiences about human rights, I have been doing for 10 years. Generally, there is an atmosphere of distrust of human rights organisations. On the evidence of this, it’s not difficult to see why
UK human rights organisations just seen embarrassed to talk about antisemitism, as if they are letting the side down or something. It is pernicious.
I do think, and maybe I’m being naive, that in years to come there will be a reckoning over how the Labour Party became institutionally antisemitic.

And who stood by whilst it happened.
I misspoke about HRW saying nothing at all on this issue. See these tweets by @astroehlein , HRW’s European media director
