1. Shadow chief of staff Sean Hannity gave the spending deal the green light last night. mediamatters.org/blog/2019/02/1…
2. This was a pretty major reversal. On Monday, Hannity was openly threatening any congressional Republican who dared to back the bill, leading to commentators saying he had all but vetoed it.
3. But after Trump criticized the bill but did not say he'd stop it on Tuesday, Hannity backpeddled. That afternoon and evening, he said that while the bill is "garbage," it's fine if Trump signs it and then uses other means to get more money.
4. What happened in between? It's unclear. Hannity talks regularly with Trump, but said last night he didn't have any inside information about what Trump would do.
5. HOWEVER: It sure looks like Trump is on course to do exactly what Hannity said he should do. Per CNN, he's planning to sign the bill while pursuing other means of getting more wall funding, possibly including a national emergency.
6. Anyway read the whole thing here: mediamatters.org/blog/2019/02/1…
