On the one hand, it's not inspiring leadership to react defensively, nor as if victimized.

Imagine this mentality & behaviour at the table discussing major issues with major consequences.

Or, just imagine how you'd take it if anyone you hired, or the person at the drive-through window, spoke to you like this if you questioned anything they said or did.

On the other hand, he started with, "I'm happy to take your questions."

It's a stretch at this point for me to give benefit of the doubt, but if that was a sincere opening statement, at the very least his reaction demonstrates a total lack of preparation for those questions & handling answering 'off-script'.

Questions I would like answered regarding the mass of people moving through Mexico towards the US border:
1. How many people are there?
2. How is the route to be taken being chosen?
3. Who made the choice of route?
4. Is there some kind of organized leadership?
5. If so, who are the leaders and how were they chosen?
6. If there are other groups joining the initial group, how did those groups decide to join?
7. Same questions regarding leadership of groups joining.
8. Where are the people sleeping and in what kinds of structures?
9. How are these people being provided food?
10. How are these people being provided water?
11. Where are these people going to the bathroom?
12. Are there are kinds of bathing facilities being offered and, if so, what kinds and who is providing them?

Did you know that a lot of autistic people have problems processing sensory input? Even leaving the house can be totally overwhelming as we are less tolerant of bright lights, strong smells, loud noises (or multiple noise sources), textures, motion etc. #ActuallyAutistic
If you’re meeting an autistic friend, try to meet somewhere quiet & calm. If you can make the effort to travel closer to us, that helps greatly as long journeys can be really difficult. On top of the sensory issues, we can be very anxious about planning. #ActuallyAutistic

people mean well but saying "if you're mentally ill, reach out" is just... I see it from other MI people too. But like, we know the hotlines exist, we know we have doctors.
not saying don't share resources with people, but it all just feels very simplistic tbh. even if you can, phoning a hotline isn't necessarily helpful for many people anyway.
I wish people would realise that even with therapy, meds, supportive family and friends, psychs, hotlines, etc., many of us are still going to be very mentally ill.

2/n We elites are critical to making this debate glocalized. Thought leadership also involves thought stewardship. Communities form the core of our economies. Blue collar workers must be re-conceived as #newcollar workers. Code is key.

Asking tons of questions about the hurricane and expecting people in the target zone to assuage your external fears...isn't helpful to us.
It's truly exhausting dealing with the mechanics of other people's "compassion," when it's simply time + emotional labor for me.
I wish people knew how to express care without a barrage of inexperienced unsolicited advice + endless curiosity questions to be answered.
