THREAD A few thoughts on the McCabe @60Minutes interview. cbsnews.com/news/andrew-mc… 1) I'd think it is extremely likely McCabe expects an indictment soon he's setting the narrative-it was chaotic; I was confused. 2) I really wonder whether it was 60 Minutes or McCabe who 1/
2/ spun certain aspects of the interview. For instance, McCabe seemingly takes credit for the appointment of a special counsel, with no mention of Comey's leaks. McCabe also mentions Trump wanting Rosenstein to mention Russia in the firing of Comey memo, but without saying what
3/ Trump wanted included in the memo, creating the impression it was something nefarious, as opposed to that Comey refused to state that Trump was not a target of the Russia investigation.
4/ And then McCabe says he "recused himself" from the Clinton investigation, but that's not how the text messages indicate. thegatewaypundit.com/2018/01/comeys…
5/ Then there's the whole "career-FBI" "life-long Republican," to paint McCabe as unbiased. Well you know what, A LOT of Never Trump folks were life-long Republicans. And "career" in D.C. is rarely truly Republican. But what would have been nice to know is whether McCabe said
6/ "first we F Flynn, and then we F Trump." That'd be an interesting question. And finally, re the Rosenstein "quotes": Seems like a win-win for McCabe. Get revenge on Rosenstein and goad Trump into possibly firing Rosenstein, although w/ him supposedly retiring soon, seems
7/7 unlikely to work, although will put the spot light on Rosenstein and maybe leave folks wondering who's zooming who as indictments come out. END.
