Wonderful news coming in from the ancient temple of lord Venkataramana in Mulki in remote coastal Karnataka!

The temple is one of the holy places for the Saraswat Brahmin and GSB community.

A short thread about the latest news with some history follows. 🙂🙏

Situated on the bank of river Shambhavi, the little town of Mulki is home to numerous temples dating back to 6th century. Among those are the Venkataramana and Ugra Narasimhaswamy temples.

It was a peaceful little town filled with scores of devout Hindus.

All this changed when Islamic invaders began attacking and looting temples across the region. Don't want to get into those gory details now.

The priests of the Mulki dropped the Utsava murthis of Lord Narasimha into a well inside the temple to keep it safe from invaders.

This reminded me of the first chapter from 'The Idol Thief' authored by @poetryinstone.

Lord Narasimha stayed in the well for all these centuries!

A couple of days ago, the priests found centuries-old manuscripts that gave them a clue. They began searching around the temple.

They arrived at the spot described but found no well. Only thick slabs of stone!

They began digging at the said spot!

Soon they found the mouth of an ancient well, hidden few feet below the slabs!

They dug further and the well emerged!

They cleared everything around soon and dug the whole well out!

The priests got into the well slowly amidst divine chants of Vedic mantras! Imagine it was locked for last many centuries!

And they emerged with this!!

The little pooja murti of Ugra Narasimha Swamy!

The Ugra Narasimha murti here is so unique!

Has trinetra, ashta-bhuja, is in Ugra roopam slaying Hiranyakashipu on his right thigh as he stands on his left leg. He also has a Naabhi kamalam and Brighu Lanchanam on his chest!

After so many centuries, he decided to emerge! May Lord Narasimha protect all of us! and our ancient country from enemies who continue to attack our Dharma!

After all, didn't he say "धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे ॥" ?

So I had several msgs saying the info. i shared wasn't accurate. I got this news this morning so shared it. Apparently this discovery happened a while ago.
Nevertheless we can't deny what our ancestors went through for Dharma! Let's be happy with this news. Ending this thread.🙏
