Govt. has been releasing commemorative stamps to honour musicians.

I used to be an avid stamp collector, once! Not much now! Both cos of time and waning interest! Starting a thread on postal stamps/first-day covers in MY personal collection.

Beginning with Saint Tyagaraja!🙏
The stamp and FDC on Carnatic composer Muthuswami Dikshitar was released sometime in 1976.
A stamp on Pt Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, the renaissance master of Hindustani music who established the famous Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya to promote nationalism via music!
A stamp on poet saint Tulsidas, whose magnum opus Sri Ramacharitamanas is pretty much integral to Hindustani music. 😊
Sometime in 1998, a series of 4 stamps was released on Indian classical music instruments in collaboration with the Sharan Rani Backliwal Gallery of Musical Instruments in New Delhi. This one on the Rudra Veena belongs to that series. 😊
A stamp on the famous poet Miyan Tansen in 1986. His poems and compositions are sung in Hindustani and Dhrupad.
