My cat has this huge repertoire of meows and howls. Today he's sounding like a Muslim call to prayer, with a long ululation ending in an ullah, u not a, but then the real calls to pray sound more like a u. This meow means I have not made my bed properly.
By properly, he means leaving room for him to crawl under the covers
My cat also has this bloodcurdling shriek that has me wondering why no one has called SWAT. It's loud, so angry, I don't know what a banshee sounds like, but I bet it is pretty close. It's a side effect of his mirtazapine for anorexia

If Democrats want to elect their own @RealDonaldTrump, they would choose @BernieSanders who is similar in character and temperament. Their ideologies differ in they each have their own monomania coupled with belligerent ignorance.
They are both grifters counting on personality cult promotion and ignorance to lift them up. They are both creatures of the media. They both are nepotists who abuse their power to pay family. They are both liars. They both have a questionable connect to Russia

There are a lot of people who are discounting the Blackness of people who have an Afro-Latino heritage because they idiotically think they are not African Descendents of Slavery or *ADOS* because they seem to think only the United States enslaved Africans. Ignorant numpties. 1/
Slavery was not abolished in Puerto Rico until 1873 and even then they were not emancipated. They had to buy their freedom. Slaves in PR resisted, as they did everywhere, even the independence movement was powered by slave resistance.

Today's SCOTUS ruling on the Muslim Ban is ghastly. I have literally been at a loss for words on how to talk about it.

Unfortunately, not everyone is at the same loss, and I've seen a lot of Bad Takes™ on the situation, particularly from white non-Americans.
If you are white and want to talk about the SCOTUS ruling, or about racism and Islamophobia in the US more generally, there are two fundamental principles:

1. Center the victims and marginalized people, not yourself

2. Stay in your lane
The SCOTUS decision is bad for many reasons. Among them, it establishes one point: a law that is clearly targeted at a specific race/religion is constitutional as long as the text of the law doesn't mention it.

That's why Trump's explicit intentions didn't matter.

Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation

So I'm gonna own right off the bat that this isn't my original idea but something that I've seen brought up a lot of times in things like history TIL threads. With that out of the way, I do feel like brainstorming this a bit more.

First off, Spanish colonialism connected Western Europe to Africa (Northern African Moors and primarily Western African slaves) to the Americas (Gulf of Mexico, SW US down to Chile etc) to Asia (Marianas, Philippines and China). Other countries participated too but stay with me.
Their main goal was to connect Spain to the Spice Islands (Moluccas/Maluku) and convert people to Catholicism along the way. The papal bull Inter caetera issued in 1493 and Treaty of Tordesillas the next year "allowed" the division of the New World between Spain and Portugal.
