Young people, many of whom have been in the UK since they were babies, are forced to pay exorbitant fees to regularise their status, due to the bogus 'NHS health charge' imposed by May.
Ella, at the age of 23, managed to scramble together the £1,533 fee for her application. After six months, the Home Office returned it unread and demanded she apply again. By then the fee had gone up another £500.
On and on it goes, a fee introduced with no evidence of health tourism, a fee which fails to solve a problem it cannot even show exists, is forcing young people into the legal shadows.
