A reminder of the legal power of a Minister under the EU Withdrawal Act 20.4 to delay exit day in domestic law, only to coincide with a delay to when the EU Treaties will cease to apply...
And a further reminder that this was as a result of a compromise authored by Sir Oliver Letwin, backed by Cox and Jenkin in December 2017 to essentially provide a disarming mechanism for the Governments own exit date amendment...
- that would suggest that Government has power to delay exit date only to a specific new date that he been indicated or agreed in the Brexit negotiation. That has to be agreed/negotiated with EU27 unanimously under Article 50.3.

Big question would be - under what conditions?

Here Henry makes clearest case for May deal - as a compromise that will maintain current goods trade supply chains currently integrated with EU, while offering new trade freedoms in biggest section of Econ - services.

Striking thing - Downing St failure to communicate this...
... Number 10, and PM failed from the beginning to even make the case that a compromise was required, which is clearly their belief now. They can’t make case that this deal saves manufacturing, because they have never rolled the pitch for the idea that there is anything to lose.
... from my conversations this lack of willingness or perhaps capacity to properly sell the deal, and even to take risks to sell deal, has led to mistrust on other side - that there has been a lack of ownership of the clear domestic consequences of this international negotiation.

French Customs on day 2 instigating what I think are 3rd Country “reinforced” checks ahead of No Deal Brexit on all passengers at Eurostar terminal, (Calais too on freight) douane asking everyone (incl EU/UK) after bag search why in France, & for how long = lengthy queues/delays
Apparently could last for days now, & while queues here are not exactly unknown, and the French douane have had to endure many MUFC supporters gladly explain why they were in Paris... there are also what appear considerable hold ups on freight into Calais:
can assure you this most certainly is happening. Its literally here about 10 metres from where I am sitting and I can see it, and was asked alongside every other passenger same questions...

The EU isn't punishing the UK for Brexit. We're punishing ourselves. Losing all the benefits of EU membership IS punishment, in the same way as no longer being able to use the fitness equipment, weights or other facilities is punishment for quitting the local gym. 2/25
If you cancel your gym membership, you might well put on weight. But you wouldn't then turn around and say "Hey, the gym punished me for leaving by making me fat!" That would be absurd because it's the consequence of losing your gym membership, not the fault of the gym. 3/25
