NEWS: The architects of @BernieSanders media campaign in ‘16 have split from him.

@MarkLongabaugh @julianmulvey @taddevine say they “are leaving because we believe that Sen. Sanders deserves to have media consultants who share his creative vision for the campaign”

Their exit comes as Bernie hired @fshakir as his ‘20 manager and it became clear there was going to be a more organized structure this time.
The abrupt exit has angered the Bernie 2020 crew, who say the consultants are selfishly stepping on the candidate’s 👀 fundraising haul.
STORY: The firm told Bernie this am they were out but blindsided others - including his new manager, @fshakir

Some in Bernie orbit say the firm was bitter about losing total control this time - they hadn’t even met w Faiz - but Longabaugh denies that >

It’s hard to overstate how much latitude the firm had in ‘16 - and not just media. Also did debate prep.

Tad and Bernie clashed - especially at the end over whether to quit - but Mulvey and Longabaugh were expected to be principals this time. They just made his anncmt video.
A little more on the new Bernie regime: they’re planning much more of an aggressive field effort, both in HQ and early states. And a more intense focus on digital. In other words: less $ to TV spots.
