Okay after running a business for 9 years, this is what I’ve learnt. [thread]
It’s okay to not have all the answers at all times, you’ll figure most of it along the way.
Entrepreneurship is lonely, VERY lonely at times. It’s important to have a support system you can count on.
Most days you’ll feel like you’re failing at something or the other. Either at work or in your personal life. Balance is hard and only comes with time
At some point you’ll realise that nobody is indispensable. Things will be tough for sometime but hey, Life goes on.
People will try to cheat you, will take advantage of you, you’ll see the very horrible side of some people...
...but you’ll also meet incredible people, who’ll question how you think, why you think a certain way and it will change you for the better
Your ego has no room in the business. Leave it outside and do what’s best for growth and survival
You’ll question yourself, you’ll doubt some decisions, you’ll hire the wrong people, you’ll make mistakes - it’s part of the learning process. Learn and move on.
Never doubt your instincts. That little voice at the back of your head is a good navigation system
You’ll be very happy some days, very confused others and just VERY tired most of the time
If you look past the struggles, you’ll truly find joy in the creation process. To see an idea come to life is a feeling like none other
Nothing will serve you more than just being kind to people. Be kind. Always.
Success, like failure, is transitory. You can never rest on your laurels. Each day brings a new battle
Can’t emphasise on this strongly enough - Never. Stop. Learning.
No one teaches you the importance of your relationship with money. You’re in business to make money.
No matter what business you’re in, take charge of or understand what’s happening with the finances.
You will have to learn to forgive yourself and be kind to yourself
No matter what anyone tells you, there’s NO substitute for hard work.
Lastly, the joy that working on something you’ve built yourself is pretty darn great and seeing people enjoy your product is so fulfilling that you put up with everything else :) happy 9th birthday Le15, I LOVE you 💕🌸
