Yet another research methodology finds a big decrease in the number of unauthorized immigrants living in the United States over the past decade.
Here is a picture of the yearly change in the unauthorized population.

You can see that it fell from 2007-12, held constant in 2013-14, then started falling again in 2015-16.
One of the big drivers of the change has been decreased border apprehensions.

The # of people crossing the border each year has fallen by at least 80% (maybe more, since we've stepped up our apprehension efforts).
The other driver has been an increase in the number of unauthorized immigrants departing the country each year.

Some of that was increased deportation under Bush and Obama, some was for other reasons.
Note that unauthorized immigrants are now more likely to be people who just overstayed their visas, rather than people who crossed the border illegally. That wasn't true in the past.
In conclusion, there is no crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, and the policies of Bush and (especially) Obama, along with positive changes in Mexico, have halted mass illegal immigration across the border.

People need to know this new status quo.
