So here's Bouteflika's plan (!):

For the record, when Bouteflika won the 1999 elections, the Algerian constitution had limited the president to two terms. So guess what he did? That's right, he abolished term limits.
So now the guy who betrayed the constitution and abolished term limits and ran for four terms instead of two (and wants to run for a fifth), he now wants you to just trust him, he's just gonna "win" one more election and then he's done and he'll hand over power
How does an Arab tyrant say "Fuck you"? Like this: "Trust me".

1. The law shouldn't be based on my emotions
2. While people should face the consequences of their crimes, no human should be considered a lost cause
The human rights paradigm isn't just "nice", it guarantees peace, prosperity, and security. It's too important to be bent or abandoned when dealing with individuals who have committed horrible crimes.

Note to "progressives": Dictators exist, and they do horrible things to the millions of people they subjugate. Many of these dictators just *love* what you say about nonintervention. If dictators are cheering your foreign policy, you have a problem.
It's actually possible to have a foreign policy that stands up to bullies, promotes the values of human rights, protects civil society, supports native agency, and holds dictators to account, all without invading everywhere. Speak about that. Not about "nonintervention".
Intervention isn't limited to dropping bombs. Legitimization of dictators is a form of intervention into their country's power dynamics. Selling weapons (or refusing to) is, too. Economic engagement (or sanctions), too. There's an entire menu of options. Speak about that.

1. Not even Arabs have pure Arab bloodlines, we're all mixed
2. The earliest Arab (Umayyads) raids into the subcontinent were punitive raids, they didn't seek to "capture India"
3. The guy who raided India back then was in the employ of two tyrants, Al Hajjaj Al Thaqafi and Al Waleed bin Abdulmalik
4. Arabs traded peacefully with India before Islam and after Islam for millenia
5. Your wife is also almost certainly mixed, there's no such thing as a purebred human (unless you're inbred and full of genetic diseases)
