The scale of the stupidity.

Shall we explain what the backstop is and what it's for and why it doesn't matter if it's temporary or not, and why this arbitration panel . . . fuck sake

The backstop is the maximum degree of separation.
If you try to separate yourself any further than that, it will come into force. But if you end up closer to Europe than that, then it will become redundant.

Jesus Christ, people on this planet are too stupid.
If the backstop became redundant it would only happen because its terms were replicated in whatever trade agreement followed.

The backstop provisions, of customs union and open border, will never be dissolved by a more distant relation, only by something even closer.

People seem to be completely unteachable sometimes.
You're all getting hung up on legal notices about this fucking backstop, like the most myopic little bureaucrats squinting their small print.

You make it much more difficult than it needs to be. These are the facts:

1. Northern Ireland is staying in the customs union.

2. If you want to maintain the integrity of the United Kingdom, all of it has to stay in the customs union.

3. No future agreement will override this
