First, I want to say thank you. Thank you for your support as I ran for re-election in Ohio, and thank you for your support as we traveled the country on the Dignity of Work tour.
.@ConnieSchultz and I have spent the last few months traveling around the country to make dignity of work a centerpiece of Democrats’ 2020 campaign, and we are so grateful to everyone who has welcomed us into their communities and into their lives.
We’ve seen candidates begin taking up the dignity of work fight, and we have seen voters across the country demanding it—because dignity of work is a value that unites all of us. It is how we beat Trump, and it is how we should govern.
That’s why I’m confident it will continue to be a focus for Democrats in 2020. And I plan on making sure that happens I will keep calling out Donald Trump and his phony populism.
I will keep fighting for all workers across the country. And I will do everything I can to elect a Democratic President and a Democratic Senate in 2020. The best place for me to make that fight is in the United States Senate.

Believe me, we will fight.

I proudly wear suits made by union workers ten miles from my house in Cleveland, and on the lapel of those suits, I wear a pin depicting a canary in a birdcage. Here's the story:
The canary pin was given to me two decades ago by a Lorain steelworker at a Workers Memorial Day rally. I wear the canary instead of the official Senate pin because it represents all of us.
It represents the role of government to support the middle class, and those who aspire to the middle class.

It represents the progress we have made – and the society we continue to fight for every day.

 During 2018 I devoted much time and energy to being critical of “the enemy”. Targeting them with angry tweets. In the process did I lose sight of me? What am I pretending not to know about me, my life? In what ways do I need to get my own house in better order? #ShowMeLord

 In my foolish youth New Years Eve was about limos, flashy clothes, dazzling dates on my arm, booze, music, and lots of loud ppl.

I know better now... quiet retreat with the Master, reflective study, prayer, and a hunger for connection and re-direction. Much more satisfying.
