Kenney’s UCP property rights plan would require government to compensate private property owners if they are restricted from developing the land.

So the corporation that bought Bighorn land lease rights would need to be compensated for lost revenues if they can’t frack NG.
Kenney wants to enshrine private (corporate) property rights in the constitution like human rights for people.

He wants to amend the definition of personhood to include corporations. It’s one of the amendments to the constitution an Charter of Rights he has planned.
Giving corporations full personhood would ensure unlimited power to develop their land (pollute, poison, destroy habitats, extract water, make noise, etc.), and there’s nothing the govt or affected humans could do to stop them. Well, you could try to sue them, maybe?
This means corporations like Nestle can purchase leases to extract potable water to sell for profit, without regard for surrounding municipality’s water supply needs, & without regard to environmental or health & safety impacts. Nestle’s already doing this in Ontario & BC.
Attempts to regulate resource production/extraction would require govt compensation to the corporation for lost revenues.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Regulate corporations at financial peril to AB.

This is the play that corporations pay for in “Pay to Play” scams.
Oh, and in case it’s not clear...

These are amendments to AB constitution.

But Scheer has plans to make this federal legislation.

That’s why they will do EVERYTHING to win AB, BC and federal elections.
They need 7 provinces, and the federal government representing 50+1% of the population to amend the Canadian Constitution and Charter of Rights.

Currently Conservatives have majority governments in:

Quebec
Ontario
New Brunswick
Manitoba
Saskatchewan
