Let's start with some definitions.

"Character" - your main character, but could also be a secondary one.
"Arc" - the journey the character takes - emotional, physical, mental ... going from a starting state to a changed state at story's end
Theme - the takeaway for the reader
Ideally what we're creating is a character whose arc affects them and gives the reader multiple things to take away that can be (with some obvious modification) applied to their own life.

I was thinking. There's probably a lot of #writers that really want to get involved in the #WritingCommunity , but maybe don't know how or feel a little lost. So I decided to create a little guide on Book Twitter to go over the basics for anyone who needs it! A thread.
Common writing age-group acronyms:
MG = Middle Grade
YA = Young Adult
NA = New Adult (you may see a little conflict over this topic, so be wary. To quickly summarize, it's an age group between YA and A that typically depicts people between 18 - 30)
A = Adult
Common writing terms:
Beta Reader = Someone who reads and gives you feedback on the early drafts of your story. They read bc they enjoy.
CP/Critique Partner = A partnership where you read their story and they read yours for feedback.
1st, 2nd (X)st draft = stages of editing

It's back-to-school time so I want to share a little of my experience with being a Black admin in a school with 48% white students. This is specifically for parents of Black children so you know what happens in schools & are able to disrupt this issue with "discipline". #thread
I walked into a team teacher meeting (they're all white) who was to be doing curriculum planning. Instead, they switched it up and decided to call kids out of class to talk to them about their "behavior". I'll keep putting that in quotes since it was a nefarious act.
The Ts are on one side of the table and a Black student, we'll call him X, was on the other. He was slumped over, picking at his fingers. Walking in and seeing this I asked, "What's this?" They told me they were trying to talk to him about what he does in class. It smelled fishy.
