For the record, put me on the side of *opposing* impeachment until we have a full Mueller report in the hands of the pubic, a full slate of public hearings with key scandal figures testifying under oath, and a full accounting of the scope of Trump's high crimes and misdemeanors.
1/ There's no doubt that there's sufficient evidence right now to impeach Trump on a number of—entirely discrete—grounds involving Emoluments, the Oath of Office, Abuse of Power, Bribery, Obstruction, and more. But you can't do anything with all that until it's been put together.
2/ You don't start a trial when you're still gathering evidence—that's not how it's done. Frankly, I believe the *overwhelming* majority of Democrats are in that headspace: that this is something that needs to happen but for which the time isn't ripe. That's critical to remember.
3/ Stories like "Democrats flock to Pelosi" imply there's some hardened crew of liberal dead-enders waiting in the wings, sneaking in shadows, who want impeachment *now* no matter what. You'll find a House member here and there in that camp—but not even Steyer is there right now.
4/ The progressive view on impeachment:

1) Gather all the evidence over the next few months (the Mueller report, old/new testimony, the best reporting).
2) Put it in one place.
3) When it's clear that it's compelling/overwhelming, move in an orderly fashion toward impeachment.
5/ The idea that there's a groundswell of "impeach tomorrow" folks in the Democratic Party is a farce—a media creation that allows 100 stories of internal turmoil in the Democratic Party to be written. A handful of House members who want Articles today does *not* a movement make.
PS/ I think we can all agree that nothing should be "in the hands of the pubic." Let's go with "public" on that one.
