Today is also great opportunity to pay tribute to all of those courageous and generous people who have donated kidneys. Living donors should be better supported and we are working to make this happen. #worldkidneyday 3/8
It’s personal for me because I had family member with end stage renal disease. So did @SecAzar who spoke about his father at recent @NKF meeting – go.usa.gov/xEwxT. 4/8
@SecAzar, @SeemaCMS and I are not comfortable with the current state of #kidneycare – it needs to change – and we are working on ways to improve care and lower costs for Americans. #worldkidneyday 5/8
We are 1 examining better ways to diagnose, prevent, and slow the progression of #ckd, 2 focusing on home as a modality when appropriate, and 3 ensuring more Americans receive transplants in as timely a manner as possible 6/8
Innovation is also another key goal and we will do everything possible to support future technology that can help #kidneycare patients 7/8
Finally I would like to thank all of the health care professionals, family members and others that care for Americans with CKD and ESRD. I appreciate all that you do for our country. #worldkidneyday 8/8
