If anyone’s looking for a culprit for the mainstreaming of the far right in Britain, I’d point the finger squarely at The Times. Consistently, the far right have followed where the Times has led.
Ground zero is the kebab shop/taxi rank abuse rings, which they introduced on day one as an urgent battle not against a justice system that wasn’t interested in poor and neglected people, but against the forces of PC Gone Mad that somehow never managed to strike back.
The Times intentionally approached those crimes not as a system failing people it viewed as minor irritants of little consequence, but as a raging indictment of migration policy and multiculturalism.
They regularly front-paged the most blood-curdling and insane ISIS propaganda atrocities and threats, even as they stated openly in their editorials that they knew ISIS desperately wanted to be on the front page of papers like The Times.
Their coverage of the 2015 migrant crisis was an obscenity from start to finish, full of screaming headlines with only one tiny blink of shame about a dead toddler on a Greek beach.
Almost every major far right grifter with a website has appeared in a profile in the T2, and the paper threw its full weight behind the idea that university campuses are unfairly repressing the very wackiest racists on the touring circuit.
They front-paged an obviously incorrect story claiming that the British courts were helping Muslim relatives steal a Christian child from parents, then defiantly told everyone to fuck off when they were proven wrong.
They immediately believed the most obviously fraudulent student politics huckster making vexatious complaints about PC clampdowns on criticism of ISIS and again refused to apologise, although they were forced to on this occasion IIRC.
I mean, I could go on pretty much indefinitely here.
It’s worth noting here that I’ve barely touched on the huge number of opinion columns about how the very far right Ukip spoke for real Britons, because the average real British person is racist as fuck, or how Islamaphobia absolutely does not exist.
And I haven’t even winked towards the perpetual war stuff which is, to be quite frank, absolutely insane.
Going through the photo album, a few Greatest Hits, not necessarily related to the fact subject matter
I’m not just saying the Times is bad, because it obviously is. I’m saying that this should have very negative social consequences for people who work for the Times, who should properly be regarded as accomplices rather than employees.
Look at this one, for Christ’s sake. They were proven totally wrong and this was their response: fuck you, we don’t care.
To tie this bullshit up: there’s something very sick and wrong going on at the Times and it’s been happening for at least ten years, and all of their columnists and correspondents are totally fine with that, as are the rest of the British press by the looks of things.
