The problem with just cancelling Brexit is that there’s one big section of the electorate that everyone who matters is very willing - and often keen - to dismiss, infuriate and offend, and another that they aren’t.
I don’t see how you can cancel Brexit without shattering the nation’s Conservative coalition for decades, and I’m struggling to imagine many of the people who are employed specifically to pander to those people permitting it.
The entire Brexit debacle has been all about maintaining the Conservative Party’s lock on power. Cancelling Brexit does exactly the opposite, possibly for good. A lot of fat turkeys are going to have to willingly vote for Christmas for that to happen.
Given a choice between 1) No Brexit, shattering the Conservative Party, perhaps fatally and 2) Awful Brexit and just keep your fingers crossed it isn’t too bad - how confident are *you* that everyone will line up to vote for option 1)?
