A couple of nights ago, Rep. Mark Meadows said that sitting ambassadors are complicit in the deep state coup against Trump. I'm gaining confidence in my first guess: Ukrainian ambassador Valeriy Chaly. Things seem to be moving fairly quickly recently.

Reps. Lieu & Rice demand answers from the NRA primarily about 2015 trip to Moscow as well as some 2016 campaign questions. Focus shifting away from Trump campaign collusion.
It looks like the second step in inoculating whoever had contact with Butina & Torshin from criticism. Last week, the New Republic put out a puff piece on Butina claiming she really isn't a spy.
It will be interesting to see who the Left is trying to protect.

Over time, if my view changes along these lines (#TeamPatriot hashtag not connected to a psychological operation), I will make that clear. For the time being, I will write in this thread (and in replies) with respect to my current viewpoint.
Using "psychological operation" as a term calls to mind conspiracy theories, intelligence activities, etc., which are legitimate considerations of course. However, since we are dealing human communication, the ancient art of rhetoric is always on the table of analysis.

Lanny Davis says he was the anonymous source in a July CNN story that reported Michael Cohen claimed Trump had advance knowledge of the Trump Tower meeting between his son and Russians.
This contradicts Davis's own words on CNN last week.
