Shajarizadeh was one of the many who protested against compulsory Hijab in Iran. However, beyond that protest she has no previous background or experience in defending women's rights in Iran. Many were surprised when she was called "women's rights leader" in her recent article. 
The Raoul Wallenberg Centre is led by Irwin Cotler. Mr. Cotler also serves on the advisory board of the powerful anti-Iran lobby organization in DC called United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI). unitedagainstnucleariran.com/people/irwin-c…
UANI has been the main lobby group against the nuclear agreement with Iran. Initially UANI opposed the nuclear deal signed by Obama and tried to defeat it in the US Congress.
