Spot on...for all the talk of "reverse discrimination" and unfairness against white people, I have yet to find the white person who actually would want to change places, and experience life as black folks do...
and the only comeback I've ever heard 2 this is "well, I wish I'd been black when I applied to Harvard, Yale, etc"...but that's absurd. Even if we presume that diversity goals give a slight per capita edge to POC at the point of admissions, a few things are worth noting...
...first, that one would not have been black only on the day they applied to college; i.e., these whites wishing they'd been black when they sent in their apps would have been black their whole lives. They wold not be the same people they are now just with dark skin...
...this means theyd have been 10x more likely 2 have attended hi poverty K-12 schools, 2x as likely 2 have an unemployed parent, 3x as likely 2 have been poor, in a fam w/1/15th the net worth and 2x as likely 2 die in infancy (so forget college, we're talking no pre school)...
...white folks who say stupid shit like this act as though if they were black everything about them: their experiences, academic performance, outlook on life, everything, would be just the same as now, only with dark skin. But literally everything would be different....
...to start considering "unfair preferential treatment" only at the pt of college admissions (especially when black & Latinx folks are only 15% of students combined at elite schools on avg, and thus NOT the reason your white ass didn't get in) is to ignore the 18 years..
...that preceded the day you sent your apps into colleges. It is to ignore all social context and examine admissions in a vacuum as if history (and by that I mean, even yesterday) didn't happen...
