The thing I was trying to get at with all of this that I wish I'd led with, so I'll just put it here:

They aren't trying to delegitimize the Mueller investigation.

They're trying to delegitimize the very idea of investigation itself.

...now they're attacking the very notion of oversight and investigation.

They're conflating the Barr memo with the report, so they can point to the report as a primary source.

So, wherever the report differs from the memo, it will impugn the report, not the memo.

It's the simplest matter for them to move from "the Mueller investigation is a sham" to "investigation is a sham," and paint all oversight with the same lazy brush-strokes.

A liar doesn't have to make you believe they're telling the truth. They just have to make you believe there is no truth.

The criminal doesn't have to make you believe they're innocent. They just have to make you believe everyone's a criminal.

"A post-Mueller world," the report hasn't even been released but apparently it's already over.

You see how they just accept the framing?

"Turn the tables," as if this is a game, as if they haven't been in charge of the U.S. government the whole time, as if they haven't stacked lies on lies as we all watched.

And the next time there's oversight they'll just conflate the two, and the media will accept that framing.

The idea that's being put out unexamined and uncontested is that if a president is investigated, it is only legitimate if that investigation ends with charges against the president; otherwise it's prosecutable treason.

Which is INSANE.

It's an attack on investigation itself.

The president calling for 'turning the tables' after a legal investigation should be seen, all by itself, as an impeachable offense.

An attack on checks & balances?

That, all by itself, makes him unfit.

He should be run out on a rail.

See how far they're moving the frame?

Impeach him, then impeach him again.

Impeach him WHILE he's being impeached.

Impeach him every day. Every day he's done something impeachable—literally.

An unending matryoshka doll of impeachments.

You can pretend you don't know how it'd be covered if Hillary vowed retribution against those investigating Benghazi, but you know.

Yet conservatives still insist there's a "liberal media bias" with a zeal they usually reserve for the topic of how happy antebellum slaves were.

Call your representatives and demand investigation, into the taxes, into the business dealings, into emoluments, into the lies to Congress, into the nepotism and the security clearance, into the Deutsche Bank dealings with Justice Kennedy's son, all of it.

Nothing should be easier than investigating abuse of power.

Demand it.

An investigation turducken stuffed with investigation truffles and drizzled with rich buttery consequences.

Investigations all the way down.
