Ken Clarke’s proposal for customs union has got 264 votes making it more popular than May’s deal or Corbyn’s deal

BUT NO MAJORITY FOR ANYTHING
However the big surprise was that motion for confirmatory second referendum from Margaret Beckett and @peterkyle got more votes than anything else tonight (268 for, 295 against)....
Another point is that Clarke customs union (ie soft Brexit) was only defeated by eight votes: 264 to 272.

Arguably because the SNP won’t back anything apart from stopping Brexit or a second referendum.....

They have been busy moving money out and being paid eye watering amounts to advise those with deep pockets how to mitigate the harm and exploit the weakness in this 'new modern Britain'. (2/11)
May's party is ram packed with people who will never have to worry about the untold harm that any form of Brexit will serve up. They'll have their personal fortunes, gold plated pensions and gongs aplenty to keep them warm. (3/11)

ERG MPs are arriving to the 5pm meeting. It’s absolutely packed. Also some cameras in there, which is causing a bit of confusion. “What the bloody hell are they doing there?” one MP said.

The cameras were filming for a Channel 4 documentary on Brexit, coming out later this year. One to look forward to. ERG meeting well underway now.

Am told this was “at the bottom” of a stack of the ropiest tech proposals being hawked round by PRs...

No doubt the ERG thinks it was cleverly hidden away by evil mandarins who didn’t want to make it work...which it won’t. /2

Far too many people in the USA think this empire is the center of the world, and while knowing very little, speak as if their nationalistic narcissism gives them authoritative expertise on everywhere outside the country.
The comments I see people in the USA making about other nations are stunning. People are so deluded and have absorbed empire to such an extent that they spout ignorance boldly with disgusting confidence.
Across the board, people in the USA talk about the rest of the world as if it's theirs. It's disturbing to see how much people take empire to heart.

Those who would likely admit they know nothing still feel they know what's best for the other countries they know nothing about.

Top story on @SkyNews this morning: Tories openly discussing ousting May at an ERG meeting last night: Brexiteers clearly split between those who want a true Brexiteer in power (some Johnson supporters and those who want to chuck Chequers not here (the @DavidDavisMP camp)
But have they got the numbers? Could get the 48 letters into the 1922 chair to trigger a confidence vote, but No 10 sources say May will stay and fight......
Once confidence vote triggered, half the parliamentary party (near 160 MPs) would have to vote against her to force a leadership bid. No 10 sources clear she won’t stand down unless she loses a confidence vote. So there simply aren’t the numbers to force her out, yet.....
