As usual, @JakeTapper was a rare balanced and sober voice on cable news throughout most of this debacle. But the idea that CNN got nothing wrong is, with due respect, absurd. MSNBC led the way in unhinged conspiracy-mongering but CNN had at least 3 major, humiliating retractions:
One of the most embarrassing media moments was when CNN "reported," and then MSNBC's Ken Dilanian "independently confirmed," that Trump Jr. got advanced access to the WL archive - all based on a false date that neither network ever bothered to explain:
And I've come to peace with the fact that this story will never be retracted even though everyone - including at the @Guardian, I am sure - knows it is utter bullshit - a joke- but it's still worth noting because it shows how unmoored the media is to any notions of accountability

It's not just that the media refuses any self-critique (has any journalist who pushed the conspiracy acknowledged any narrative errors other than @Isikoff in his last MSNBC spot?). The rank-closing & arrogant conceit about this story are stronger than ever
As for the complaint that people have spent an entire week (!) talking about this: yes, the collapse of the dominant conspiracy of the Trump presidency & the damage it's done to journalism is a huge story. I suspect if Mueller had vindicated them, they'd still be talking about it

1) Brazil is on the verge of electing far-right populist Jair Bolsonaroan an extremist “barbarian” who represents “the dross of the dictatorship”.

He will be opposed by the left wing candidate @Haddad_Fernando , member of the PT - our sister party in Brazil.
2) Who is Bolsonaroan?

He has a torturer as his idol Carlos Alberto Brilhante Ustra who was one of the most sadistic torturer & murderer in the military dictatorship that choked Brazil between 1964 & 1985.

He has also voiced admiration for Chile's dictator Augusto Pinochet.
3) He believes that women are not important and didn't hesitate to claim that “if he had four sons, he then had a moment of weakness, and the fifth was a girl.”

He hates gays claiming that he'd rather have his son die in a car accident than have him show up dating some guy.

After the horrific 1968-74 period, Ernesto Geisel ('74-9), was regarded as one of the more benevolent rulers during the military dictatorship (1964-85) in #Brazil. Documents show he was aware of summary executions of subversives, as was CIA and Kissinger. theguardian.com/world/2018/may…
The CIA had detected the plans for the 1964 coup in #Brazil, and had contact with some conspirators. But the CIA did *not* instigate the coup, and did not provide money or direction for the plot. >>
