Thread three of #Fallout76123NV4 run.

Recap: Apparently when you blow up the Cathedral without killing the super mutant leader you lose your chance and the ending slide has the mutant army jacking shit up whoops.
I have moderately high hopes that when doing the side content this run I have more RP opportunities especially involving psycho addiction.
Exactly the same as the FO1 start xD
I swear to fuck if I die to Outcasts on my very first world encounter in FO2.

I don't actually find Awareness that useful maybe Cautious Nature is better for me? xD

Honestly reducing random encounter first round instagib is very important to me.

Life is short, live like the next time you attack an enemy you'll critically miss, lose your next turn, and subsequently die.
I wish 76 had some sort of automated transit system in place to justify fast travel.

Fallout 4 is a really massive game, and it tries to do a lot of things at once.

A lot of its problems stem from overlapping, contradictory design.

This case in point, it has all the system work to emulate FO3 style chaotic faction in-fighting, but it's hard to see sometimes.
It has a lot of interior dungeons (btw, you ever notice how NV has almost... none of that?) and although 3 had a lot of tunnel systems, that was just in the DC metro area.

The other 80% of the map was more or less open to these mixups.
Also FO4 introduced... settlements.

You could also spend a significant amount of time doing that, and the vanilla game doesn't bother you much if you want to do that (aside from settlement attacks which you can also make very unlikely via defenses).
So you get this pot of "hey, there's a lot to explore and find in the world!" but also "dungeon dive! loot! whee!" and "exploring is for chumps, build your base right here!"
I guess "contradictory" was the wrong word. The core systems mean you will likely miss what the other bits are doing if you focus too much on any of them.

I really feel like I should have an alternate way to "win" 76. I like that this mutation combo doesn't push me to grind for levels fast or anything, but because it's RNG I also don't have any set goal I can work toward?
There's like... no real mad scientist lab is there? FEV/tek labs, tho.
Somewhere at Bethesda there is a spreadsheet detailing the likelihood of cooking materials players obtain while leveling and how much the cooking affects the experience gain curve and I want to look at it.
Holy fuck that was a close call. Super mutant with a rocket launcher hit me square and Born Survivor saved me.

I have one stimpak left this is the lowest amount of stimpaks I've had on all my characters outside at the start of the game.
Born Survivor won't even activate without stimpaks time to fleeeeeeeeeeee.
At White Springs looting a room and someone enters and instinctively fires an explosive shotgun at me.

Pacifist on, no damage. He turns on his mic and says, in a very bored voice, "You're gonna die out here."

And leaves.

This character is doing better mutation-wise, but the last one had chameleon leather armor which helped a lot.
I saw radaway, which is normal, except this time for whatever reason my fucking useless ass brain screamed WHAT IS LOVE.

I feel like they upped the rate because my first ever toon took till like... level 30 to get his first mutation? Something pretty high, maybe 40s.

I only killed like a hundred things that run, which is a lot less serial killer-y than most video games.
Sneak was actually pretty useful, although it's not the overpowered combat skill it is in later games.
Does the broc flower and other stuff not spawn if you already have 3+ healing powder? Hrm.
I discovered that my strong punch has a higher chance to hit than my sharpened spear so... yeah.
Sometimes I wonder what exactly is changing from run to run making certain dialogue options not appear.

Given that this toon has 3 Charisma I'm assuming it's that this time xD

I'm like 99% sure the first time I ran through FO2 the difficulty settings didn't take because I made sure to kick them up this time and it's... harder xD
By now I should have Sulik and Vic and be romping around but instead I'm trying not to die reaching Vault City.
Oh I just realized that that big guy is the end boss.

Do you just meet him the one time or did I skip way too much content the first time around.

Also: It's weird that this is a totally scripted encounter. You cannot engage him now.
So like. Is there no real time limit in FO2.

I critically missed a robber and almost died again but I ran away I am a good merc.
This is the biggest random encounter I've seen.
It's also like totally broken. The patrol guards aren't fighting back at all and the slavers are fucking them all up.
Seriously.
Normally I'm not a grinder, but now I have a roleplay reason: Fuck Metzger and slavers PUMP SOME IRON, WORK OUT, CRUSH THE SLAVERS.
Realistically I just need some armor, a decent shotgun, and some explosives.

THEN THEY'LL SEE.
(Also, like, Horrigan is a major asshole so walking in unleveled is just doom.)
Is there a sneaky/peaceful solution? No idea, this is only my second real run xD

NGL FO1/2 would move up a lot in my estimation if they had simple key rebinding.

I hate controllers but even a controller would be better than all this excessive LMB.
Your game should not cause physical pain to play.

I think however this run ends this will be the end of it. Even with frequent breaks this is basically torturing my right hand.
I downloaded JoyToKey and it does seem to work on W10 with an Xbox 360 controller. Maybe this will work better.
Hard to increase sensitivity without messing up accuracy.

I don't have enough strength to use this sniper rifle properly and it makes me sad.
There are four terminals I need to hack to free the slaves and I can't open any of them.

It doesn't say I can't so I'm just spamming science on them.
If this was a modern game I would assume there was another way to do this, but being Fallout 2 I assume the game design here is literally "nah, keep trying until it rolls your way."
It's hard to believe that I was almost starting to enjoy Fallout 2.
Tells you outright you cannot lockpick the individual doors. Explosives do nothing.

I don't know if FO2 has stat increase surgeries like in FO1. Maybe Action Boy is just better since I have 9 Agility.
