It’s been 10 years since the financial crash cost millions of people their homes, jobs, and savings. But not one big bank CEO has gone to jail. It’s time to reform our laws to make sure that corporate executives face jail time for overseeing massive scams. washingtonpost.com/opinions/eliza…
Congress should start by enacting the Ending Too Big To Jail Act I introduced last year. This bill would make it easier to hold executives at big banks criminally liable for scams.
But we need to go further. From Equifax to BP, top executives across the country have overseen corporate conduct that has done real harm to American families—and walked away without any jail time.
Today, I’m proposing a new law that expands criminal liability to any corporate executive who negligently oversees a company that causes severe and widespread harm to families. Our justice system should ensure that if you cheat working Americans, you’ll go to jail.
