Electoral Commission EP election timetable: A great bit of trivia for absolute Brexit nerds - April 12 deadline (midnight) for calling EP elections only for the SW region, because it includes Gibraltar, because there is an extra bank holiday. For rest of UK its 15 April midnight.
By 24 April the Conservatives will have to decide if they are going to stand in these European elections now being prepared ... as will TIG etc ...

By my calc BJ has done zero sitdown broadcast ivs let alone debates in whole of 2019, indeed 1 set (last Sept) since he resigned from Cabinet... did turn up at Commons live point after May’s lost votes couple of times..at presser this week follow up qs prevented by removing mics
Anyway - it’s not like he’s bad at doing TV interviews or debates - I guess it avoids hostages to fortune. But there genuinely are a host of very interesting policy proposals for which he claims he will have a “new mandate” which will not have been subject to public scrutiny...

V odd this “race to be PM” from afar - tax plans that won’t pass this Parliament, Brexit “plans” that won’t pass Parliament, promise not to have GE - promises being made to tiny selectorate that aren’t in hands of winner to deliver...

BXP results make a new Tory leader backing No Deal by Oct 31st position almost certain...
But...

9.1 million people just voted for parties explicitly against No Deal (LD/G/L/CH/SNP...) ... vs 5.8m explicitly in favour...(BXP+Ukip) /1
By the way that is the second consecutive national poll after the General Election 2017 where manifestos against No Deal have got a majority of popular votes - and on a lower turnout, that majority against has now increased /2
... also the number so far make it far from clear that the entirety of the Conservative vote share loss went to Brexit Party - assuming some Labour to BXP too - then a small but electorally important band of long forgotten Con Remainers went to Libs/CHUK too /3

EU citizens denied a right to vote because your Euro Parliament form hasn't been processed -ask for the register to be corrected TODAY so you can vote.
Returning officers can correct the register of voters down to 9 pm tonight!

The register includes whether an EU citizen has made the separate request to register to vote in the Euro Parl elections

This is completely incorrect - and the law is clear. The source of the confusion may be a poorly written @ElectoralCommUK document saying "A donation is money... with a value of over £500." (p.5). But the Electoral Comm doesn't change the law - thread.

The law's starting point is the Representation of the People Act 1983 section 71A, saying Sch 2A has "effect"... legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1983/2/p…
We then look at RPA 1983 Sch 2A, which says in paragraph 2, "Donation" means "any gift to the candidate or his election agent of money..." - no £500 exemption there. Para 4 does have a *£50* exemption, but that doesn't help here... legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1983/2/s…

Well over at the electoral Commission they are saying
that a donation under £500 does not come under Under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000
(PPERA). Interesting. But why might this matter?

2/ OK but.....The Labour machine backed by Momentum musters an impressive £62.5k per day during the 2015 GE, but BRAND NEW Brexit party monsters £75k per day. I'm still suspicious..

It's now only 10 weeks until the window set by the EU for holding elections. 5 years ago, the UK's detailed rules were finalised 6 weeks before. So the UK Gov has time to organise - but does it have a legal duty?
