Why you can't trust Confidential Informant Stef Halper (THREAD). On December 17, 2016 Halper grabs the front page of the London Financial Times, announcing that he quit Cambridge Intelligence Seminar ' due to “unacceptable Russian influence on the group”. 'ft.com/content/d43cd5…
He described himself as someone REALLY important and influential: 'Stefan Halper, a senior foreign policy adviser at the White House to presidents Nixon, Ford and Reagan', but did not mention his connections to the FBI and the CIA.
Cambridge Intelligence Seminar is described as 'an academic forum for former practitioners and current researchers of western spycraft' and ' impeccably-credentialed platform' ...' high-level sensitive defence and security topics'.
Halper had fears there 'could be a Kremlin-backed operation to compromise the group.'
Halper is reported to fear 'that Russia may be seeking to use the seminar as an impeccably-credentialed platform to covertly steer debate and opinion on high-level sensitive defence and security topics'
For effect, they layer in 'Whitehall officials', 'paranoia' about Russia meddling, anonymous sources, and 'a varsity spy scare harking back to the heyday of Soviet espionage at the heart of the British establishment.'
Then comes the key point: 'a recent attendee' of the seminar was 'Mike Flynn, president-elect Donald Trump’s choice as US national security adviser' and later in the article: 'Spurred by the mounting concern over Russian meddling in the US presidential election, western spooks...
...' are rushing to try and get a fuller picture of the Kremlin's strategy for manipulating information to influence opinion.' Halper's concerns 'come against a backdrop of growing paranoia about Russian subversion in the west.'
So this is huge, right??? BUT... 'The Financial Times has been unable to independently substantiate their claims — and no concrete evidence has been provided to back them.' A bit of a problem..
Prof Andrew, the official historian of MI5 'whose books on the KGB are among the most exhaustive on the history of Russian information warfare , said the suggestion of a Russian covert operation to compromise the seminar was “absurd”.
Prof Andew would know, given that he is the Chairman of the Cambridge Intelligence Seminar: 'The seminar is “entirely unclassified” Prof Andrew pointed out
An independent outside investigation into Halper's allegation of the Kremlin penetration of the Seminar found there was 'no case to answer'. That's British speak for 'it's BS'
So when did Halper resign from the Cambridge Intelligence Seminar? Was it December 2016? No. He resigned in JULY 2016 in an email to Christopher Andrew. And why did he resign? Is it because of Russian covert operation? NO!
Halper writes to Andrew: 'I wanted to write to say that I can no longer be a "Co-Convener" of the Intelligence Seminar. It has been most enjoyable these past several years and I wish you continued success. I look forward to seeing you next time I am in Cambridge.” NOTHING ELSE
SUMMARY: In December 2016, Confidential Informant Stefan Halper, who by that stage is up to his neck in Operation Crossfire Hurricane, places an entirely false story about Kremlin compromise covert operation in the Press. And his controllers trust him? THE END.
