Historic #NotreDame spire has collapsed and the cathedral’s back roof is engulfed in flames. Earlier report said fire began at 7am, tho likely 7pm. It’s 8:30pm in Paris. Reporters say it appears out of control, violent and moving quickly toward the iconic gothic facade. Tragic.💔

Trump’s incoherence on free speech: gagging Doctors’ counsel on patients’ right to abortions, while promoting payed hate speech at colleges.

Anyone can speak freely on campuses, but hate mongers don’t have the right to be payed for it.

Free speech =/= state sponsored hate.
Trump brought Hayden Williams to the CPAC stage.

Williams, not a student, was attacked by a student at UC Berkeley while distributing right wing pamphlets.

The student was arrested & charged, Berkeley released a statement of commitment to free speech.

Berkeley spent $4 mil last year alone to bring conservative speakers sponsored by conservative student clubs, like Candace Owens.

Owens claimed Hitler would have been fine if he confined his actions, such as the holocaust, to German borders.

First here is the 1 min clip of her answer to a question about nationalism where she unprovoked brought up Hitler in context of nationalism. 2/
She brings up Hitler and admits that in America when people think nationalism, they think Hitler. Owens would like to erase that link so her brand of nationalism cannot suffer from association with German nationalism that bred Hitler. She calls Hitler a "national-socialist." 3/

Jewish journalist Noah Berlatsky’s articles all contain 1 of 2 narratives: 1) Why Jewish identity must be protected; or 2) Why White identity is evil & must be attacked.

Here, he sees white kids whose loving parents haven’t taught them how evil their whiteness is as the problem.
Noah Berlatsky is proud that his Jewish son has embraced his views on how evil whiteness is. He writes that his son & his classmates lead the charge in getting their private school to change “Columbus Day” to “Native People’s Day,” writing a letter denouncing “white imperialism.”
Despite Berlatsky’s championing of diversity & abhorring whiteness, he chose to send his son to private school. Why? Well, Chicago is a 32% white city. He loves minorities, but pays for his kids to not be in school with them.

It’s OK though, the school “encourages anti-racism.”
