These pieces arguing that Fox News isn’t powerful or destructive are being written by insiders who view everything as spin. If you want to know the damage FNC has done, ask the people whose families have been destroyed, the vulnerable populations targeted with violence.
For insiders and DC regulars, Fox News is the dream, a network devoted to spin and rhetoric that completely obfuscates the truth. It’s what the toxic Washington culture loves because it’s about the game and wins and losses. It’s a huge part of what’s wrong with this country.
Fox News has exacerbated the political corruption and cravenness and has kept a criminal president afloat. Its hurt race relations, damned the climate, and destabilized culture. If you don’t think that’s destructive, maybe reconsider your definition.
