Tactical voting matters in the EU MEP Elections.

This is one explanation.

But if you do not get that one..here is another.

Basically. You vote for a party not a candidate.

The party lists candidates in preferential order. (The List)
“Seats are allocated from the top down, with the parties with the biggest scores getting first pick”

But look at tweet 9 onwards. Having c 13% share of the vote does not nec mean you will get even approaching 13% of the seats.
