Watching all the 2020 Dems sign up to defend an antisemite in their party and insist that criticism of her equates to Islamophobia and inciting violence is a really telling moment about the direction of their party.

They had a choice on how to react to Trump. They chose poorly.
And I don't say this as someone who is celebrating. It might help Republicans, but it is bad for the country to have a major party go in this direction.

For that matter, it's bad for the country that we now have both major parties dominated by some of their worst elements.
Trump: I wonder if I can get Dems to defend an antisemite who keeps saying offensive things by attacking her...

Dems: No time to think, we best just start digging the hole.

AOC: Let me help dig a little deeper by invoking the Holocaust.

Just embarrassing. @maggieNYT describes Omar invoking repeated antisemitic tropes (and refusing to apologize and doubling down when she did it again) as simply “comments on Israel.

The comments weren’t about Israel. They were about supporters of Israel and “Jewish” colleagues.
Orange man bad so we have to excuse and normalize antisemitism among his opponents.

Journalism in 2019.
Also, Maggie’s article disgustingly suggests criticism of Omar is equivalent to attacking all Muslims.

What an outrageous smear of Muslims to suggest Omar’s antisemitism and anti-Americanism is representative of that whole community.

Leading Dems aren't just defending Omar from one particular attack, they are praising her and promoting her as a leader for their party.

It's very disturbing to watch. Imagine if R's had promoted and praised Steve King in this way after his comments.
Thing is that Omar has been emboldened. She's had 4 major scandals in as many months, but they keep defending her every time. She will have another one soon and Dems will be stuck defending her, which is why they are trying to portray any criticism of her as out of bounds.
But that's just not a serious position that will fly. So instead Dems are defining themselves as a party that accepts/normalizes antisemitism and tries to silence critics. Good luck selling that outside your base.

You want to criticize Trump or say his criticism of Omar is unfair? Fine.

If you're going to suggest it endangers her, then you have to explain how your and her attacks on Trump don't endanger him. It's a blatant and garbage double standard.
The left has been doing this for several months now. It's ridiculous and it's an obvious attempt to prevent any criticism of their most extreme elements.

You can't reasonably have it both ways. If criticism leads to violence, then yours counts too.

I feel like there are way too many investors vs builders in Silicon Valley. I know a lot of entrepreneurs who did a small exit, are 30 years old, then went out and raised a fund and are full time VCs now (but really, kind of retired....at 30 years old).
I mean, I sort of get it - running a company is stressful. You have to be sort of a lunatic to sign up and do another one, after making a good chunk of change. It just sucks to see people with talent who are really at the start of their career hanging up their spurs.
Btw, I don't mean to imply that all VC is retirement. There are some amazing VCs out there for whom it is their calling in life, and they work their asses off (even if they are rich). Hats off.

Lord Ahmad, thank you for your strong statement on #Islamophobia in the Conservative Party.

Are you aware the problem extends far beyond the 14 suspensions? There are many MPs, councillors, mayors and members whose Islamophobic actions have not been acted upon.
In addition, evidence suggests that suspensions may be occurring to give the pretence of "swift action" when instead the driver appears to be what works best for the PR of the Party.
Let's start with MPs & broader issues that have been ignored despite being raised for years - whether from @MuslimCouncil, Baroness @SayeedaWarsi or others

e.g. Zac Goldsmith, Bob Blackman, Nadine Dorries, Boris Johnson etc. - no lack of evidence

Gorsuch is deeply committed to the right to a trial by jury. Today he and Sotomayor once again teamed up to defend it—though this time, a majority of the justices seem to be on their side. (Alito still doesn't really believe in the Sixth Amendment.)
