They were so buttoned-up about it I didn’t expect them to panic so quickly. But the detail in the report even surprised me.
The underreported thing, I think, is that Mueller spends a lot of time arguing that indicting a sitting president is severe and destructive and he doesn’t want to do it but in extraordinary cases it’s warranted. He walks up to the line of saying he wishes he were able.
Proving obstruction is terribly difficult, more so without access to the witness. What surprises me is Mueller believes—and makes a good case for—having plenty of evidence regardless of that.
Anyway, the politics haven’t changed and like it or not you have to begin there.
