I responded to Chase earlier as an angry former PAO about what hot garbage his entire article is as a professional communicator. Now I'm putting on my veteran, Army father and U.S. citizen hat. Chase..you work for me. My tax dollars paid your salary to go screw off at Georgetown.
My son served for four years in the Army. My son-in-law is still serving in the Army. I gave you my kids. You work for me and you can be damn sure you owe me answers and you owe me information about the activities of MY Army. You don't get to decide if a reporter is "tainted".
Because, in a country of over 330M people I don't get the chance to visit the Pentagon and get answers from you. Luckily we have a press corps that works there and is protected by the 1st Amendment to ask my government questions for me. You don't get to play MAGA games on my dime
You follow the DoD Principles of Information dod.defense.gov/Resources/Prin… and you put out information. What doesn't meet them are tweets about how Captain Cat is the mascot of a f'ing honor guard. Nor FB posts with the newest dance craze or National Pet Day. That's propaganda.
So this cute little essay you wrote at the War College about how reporters are at fault for you not doing your job well because they won't write about fucking PME or some stupid new doctrine doesn't tell me what you're doing with my kids life or the billions you're pissing away.
So Chase...I hope someone who is a more senior PAO takes the time to pull you aside and tell you what a giant pile of steaming crap your article is because me as a retired officer, PAO, combat veteran, tax payer and Army father isn't having it. I'm your boss. Clearly you forgot.
You chose to serve as a PAO. You do it apolitically. You do it for the American people. You do it even when people are mean to you. You do it when someone dies. You do it when the Army fucks up. That's your job. If you can't do it. Get the fuck out. Period.
