I wonder what "rules, laws and norms of our society" Tony Blair thinks immigrants don't accept? Because this language errects or buttresses the Far Right notion that there is a real problem with how immigrants in our communities act. /1

You can read the full report here. And it talks of the "fear" (20 usages) or "anxiety" (9 usages) or perception (10 usages) of recipient communities without ever grappling with whether they are justified. /2 institute.global/integration
By implying there is a problem with how immigrants behave, but without engaging with the evidential base for that implied assertion, Blair is engaging in, and validating, the anti-immigrant rhetoric of the Far Right. His is bigotry dressed for dinner. /Ends

But, the most dangerous, for those (like me) who project Brexit as a key battleground in the culture wars is that it causes you to misascribe to deprivation what was in fact caused by something else. /2
That is dangerous because if my side in the culture wars lazily fixes on the wrong reason for our loss in the battle of Brexit we are going to carry on losing - and not know why. /3

In a series of emails to Mr Gibb, Mr Banks described the story as a “smear campaign” and threatened to make a formal complaint

Afterwards, Banks emailed another Leave EU director saying: “You will have a busy week next week since Robbie will react by giving us massive exposure.”
So, contrary to what @RobBurl says, there is contemporaneous written evidence that Banks (a) was telling the truth about his having put pressure on the BBC and (b) him then believing that the BBC would respond to that pressure.
A senior BBC political journalist says: "I see Rob Burl is talking crap on Twitter. The BBC is the most passive aggressive organisation I know. It combines corruption with self righteousness in a way not seen since the Catholic Church first encountered child abuse allegations."

2. First, a definition. The most common (but not only) interpretation of ‘far right’ comes from @CasMudde, who distinguishes the far right on the basis of an ideological core of nativism in what is still my favourite book (pictured) on the far right.

1. We have witnessed three amazing spectacles from the political class over the past week: the Uniparty wake (aka the McCain funeral), the Democrat tantrums during the Kavanaugh hearings, and Obama’s ranting against @POTUS.
2. Let’s examine each one briefly before answering the question posed.
3. The legacy media gave wall-to-wall coverage of McCain’s funeral over several days – before, during, and after. It was a Trump hate-fest from start to finish, as orchestrated from the grave by McCain himself. Many have commented and written about the spectacle.
