This is simply an argument in favor of painful suffering for its own sake, and, as such, it is the essence of American conservatism.
It’s not arguing there is no problem.
It’s not arguing the proposed policy won’t solve it.
It’s an argument against “solving people’s problems” as a general category.

Anyone who struggled their whole life under the hell of crippling debt who would use their struggle as the reason not to free others from a similar hell probably *should* get a slap in the face.
