Over the past year, I've been having conversations with folks across the country about how we can rebuild our crumbling infrastructure so it is climate resilient & start to redesign cities for climate justice. I wanted to highlight some of the amazing examples out there. 🌳🏘️😊
1/ @landforcepgh in Pittsburgh is creating pathways to jobs via land conservation and green infrastructure:"Landforce seeks to provide avenues to family sustaining jobs that will allow community members to stay in their historical homes & neighborhoods."

2/ @Verde_NW in Portland serves the Latinx neighborhood of Cully, "Verde works on issues of anti-displacement, workforce development & ecological justice so achieving environmental wealth & community development is possible in one project.

3/ @ECNDetroit is kick-starting its Green Team, working to stop Detroit stormwater erosion, employing local Eastsiders, & reclaiming empty plots of land. "One of the main goals beyond green infrastructure is to provide Eastsiders good, equitable jobs."

4/ Dig Coop is a worker coop in Oakland implementing rainwater catchment systems in ever-drier California,"To care for people and distribute profits equitably, Dig established itself as a worker cooperative."

We can design enterprises based on climate justice & labor over capital. These social enterprises & worker coops are examples of the alternative economy and infrastructure we can build. It will take effort, but it is possible!

Thx to all who contributed to this research! 🌺🍃💦
Oh, and want to read the whole thing? Learn the potentials, but also what we need to do better to build out this new design for enterprise and infrastructure? Check it out here!
