No. West Virginia was the birthplace of union power in the coal mines. These people have a history of fighting for the common man. “Mother Jones” was a West Virginian. It is coal/gas money, paying whomever will slash their tax bill, that puts both Rs and Ds in office here.
There is nothing innate about WV that makes it “red.” The state has been ignored by national progressive Dems, and the local progressive Dems are fighting a party leadership that is owned by coal/gas funds. Outside support and money could make WV an eminently-flippable prize.
When Trump first proposed his vile “Muslim Ban,” I watched a city full of people line the entire Kanawha Boulevard, both sides, city-wide. And hold hands to support religious freedom. Ppl from all walks of life. They are here. We are here. Stop writing us off.
