1/Wonder why @youtube is fodder for conspiracy theories? Last Friday we published:
Counter-strike: Exposing ContentID Abusers.
How YouTube's ContentID system has become Google's Achilles Heel & exposes rights holders to antitrust & class action lawsuits
2/ Immediately we noticed the 40-min, 3GB file was stuck at “100% processed” despite being available to watch as an Unlisted video.
3/ problem was when we’d set it to Public & add it to a Playlist, it would appear as a Deleted Video - not exactly easy to find or click through...
4/ and mainly, it was nowhere to be found on the @contextisking @youtube channel page m.youtube.com/context?uid=Fp… & more importantly the search results page of Related video tab... hmm...
5/ we inquired with Youtube and they said it was a glitch... working on it. okey dokey we thought. But then, out of nowhere: BOOM! Video gone. Off... a Youtube: Etrange, n’est-ce pas?
6/ we reached out again, and now:
7/ FWIW I don’t think this is some kind of conspiracy or a form of censorship but then, Youtube can’t catch a break! Video wasn’t critical of Google or Youtube per se, and as our major partner admittedly we are biased, but the video was without a doubt...
8/ the video was highly critical of major media companies & intermediary claimants that drive/generate hundreds of millions of dollars for @google and @youtube - a material sum of which is unlawfully claimed IMHO and backed by proof in video. Meaning: optics look bad. That said..
9/ we will just re-upload it tomorrow, but this time to @WatchMojo instead of smaller, nascent @contextisking channel for more people to see it. Feedback was very good & most felt it was insightful into how CID functioned and was abused! #TotallyNotAConspiracy #JustACoincidence /
Voila: video is back up on @watchmojo
